Colin Davies – Community Governor

Colin worked in operational and strategic planning for the National Coal Board, British Rail and Whitbread before becoming a top rated equity analyst in the City. He is an Oxford ‘first’, has a further Masters degree from Sussex University and before retirement was a qualified accountant. Colin sits on the Parish Council, having lived in the village for over twenty years with his wife and son. He first became a Governor in 2008 and was Chair from 2009 to 2012.
Nigel Washington – Community Governor
Nigel is the Vicar of Westoning. He has a career background in education, where he taught English and Communication at Harlington Upper School for 24 years. He was the Head of 6th form and Senior Teacher. He loves sport and is President of Flitwick Cricket Club. Nigel became a Governor in 2004 and enjoys his links with the school and the wider community.
Charles Gomm – LA Governor
Charles is an elected Central Bedfordshire Councillor representing the Flitwick and Steppingly Ward. He is also a Councillor on Flitwick Town Council. He has a background as a Civil Servant working at the Home Office. Charles lives in Westoning with his wife Diane and they are active members of the Parish Church.
Steve Alcock - Community Governor
Steve currently works as an Outplacement Career Coach in London. He has a career background in Human Resources (Retail) and ran a national charity for 10 years teaching entrepreneurship to disadvantaged/disaffected young people in Secondary Schools. Steve became a Commuinity Governor in 2012 and was appointed Vice Chair in September 2013. Steve has lived in Westoning since 1985.
Alisa Robertson - Parent Governor
Ailsa qualified as a Chartered Accountant before becoming Head of Finance and Company Secretary at a large Luton engineering company. She now works from home with a small number of tax clients. Involved in school Governorship for over 15 years, Ailsa joined WLS as a Parent Governor in 2011 and became Chair in September 2013 Ailsa lives in Wetoning with her husband and 5 sons.
Stephen Maker - Parent Governor
Stephen currently works for the FA leading a group of coaches to deliver a youth football programme across Bedfordshire & Hertfordshire. Part of his role includes supporting local schools to deliver PE and helping local grassroot teams improve their football skills (including Westoning Lower School/Youth FC) Steve joined as a Parent Governor in 2014.
Rachel Shadbolt - Parent Governor
Rachel graduated from the University of Reading and has worked in the Design Industry for over 17 years and has been a freelance Designer for the last 5 years. She enjoys sport and currently helps run the school netball team and plays for Luton Hockey Club. Rachel joined as a Parent Governor in 2010 and has been particularly involved with the school's Early Years Foundation Stage.
Alex Fletcher - Parent Governor
Alex runs his own small IT company which develops, amongst other things, software for tracking pupil progress. This has given Alex regular access to a variety of schools in Bedfordshire where he often gets to see first hand what works well within schools. He admits to being a full time 'geek' who loves all things technology related. Alex became a Parent Governor in April 2014.
Gina Hocking - Staff Governor
Gina Joined Westoning Lower School in 2006. In her earlier career she worked in the Hotel Industry in a Management/Finance capacity for a number of years before having her family. Once her children started school she retrained and gained educational qualifications to enable her to change career and work with children in schools. Gina is currently a Higher Level Teaching Assistant at Westoning. Her hobbies include baking, gardening and playing tennis.
